Tone Graph Chinese Language Mandarin

Chinese Language Lesson in Tone Graph

As we all know that in Chinese Language has four types of tone, so we must write the tone graph in pinyin to know which one to use.

If the pinyin has a single vowel than it is easy, just write the tone graph above the vowel sound. How about for more than a single vowel ?

You should write the tone graph above the main vowel. How to know which one is the main vowel ? main vowel is a vowel that is pronounced with the mouth widest open. For example : for jiao ( teach ), the first tone graph should be placed above the " a " vowel.

These rule apply for all vowels except if the vowels are i and u. If those vowels are used, then the tone graph should be written above the last vowel. For example : jiu ( old ), the tone graph should be written above the " u " vowel.

Chinese language students do not need to memorize the tone graph place, just understand where the position of mandarin Chinese language graph tone.
